In 1995, the STHBA established “The Charitable Trust” (a registered 504 (c) 3) as a way to donate to smaller charities throughout the year. Its mission is “to further the home building industry’s effort to give back to the community, to aid those in need and to assure a high quality of life for the people of St. Tammany.” Chaired by David Champagne of David Champagne Construction, the members meet and hear requests for various charities, as well as seek worthy causes to consider for donations. Over the past year some of the charities that have benefited from the Charitable Trust are Children’s Advocacy Center, East St. Tammany Rainbow Child Care Center, Habitat for Humanity St. Tammany West, Hospice Foundation of the South and New Heights Therapeutic Riding.
